Stash Swapping
A few weeks ago, a friend of mine from the Boston area decided she was going to create an Excel Spreadsheet to keep track of everything in her stash. As crazy as this sounds, I am completely in love with this idea and am hoping she shares her template.
Anyway, so after sifting through massive amounts of yarn -- some purchased in the 90's -- she was floored by how much she actually possesed. I think she does what all hoarders who are in denial do -- stash small amounts in various places so it doesn't seem like all that much. But, when she actually pulled it all out into a giant pile in her living room...well, let's just say not only was SHE shocked, but her husband was not amused. Hehe.
In any case, the point of all of this is to say that I have been the lucky recipient of a bunch of wonderful yarn she swears she won't do anything with. I had downloaded the infamous Rogue pattern and was looking for the perfect shade of Cascade220 -- almost settling on a hunter green -- when she pulled out 8 hanks of the most vibrant blue! It's so hard for me to find a good shade of blue. I'm very picky about my blues, since blue is my favorite color. So, when I saw it, I knew it was destined to become Rogue.
But that's not all...
Here's some luscious GGH Scarlett:
And, if that wasn't enough, she had a lone ball of SWTC Oasis in their version of chocolate which looks like this:
I have a lone ball of this stuff too, and they seem pretty similar in terms of color. Not sure what to make with it yet. Maybe the Clapotis. Or a hat.
In any case, it feels like Christmas over here and I didn't even have to drain my funds. :-)
It's nice to have friends as nutty as I am -- and as generous. Now, if only I could talk her into starting a weblog...

I'm knitting a summer tank in SWTC Oasis (purple), but I'm liking the chocolate color you have.
